Train Up A Child... (Part II)

Continuing the theme of the latest post and responding to my friend's request I've made a kind of inventory of our favourite children's Bibles. Most of them if not all were given by friends, and I'm so thankful for their mindful choices.

Продолжая тему последнего поста и отвечая на просьбу подруги, я провела "инвентаризацию" наших любимых детских Библий. Большинство из них, если не все, были подарены друзьями, и я так благодарна за внимательный выбор.

When I just had my first son, the dear friends of mine gave him "The Toddlers Bible" by V. Gilbert Beers. Each story is told just in few words and the illustrations aren't overloaded with too much detail - just what a toddler's mind needs. It also has a part for parents in the back with a  related scripture and possible questions and activities for each story.

Когда у нас родился первый сын, мои близкие подруги подарили ему этот "Новый завет для самых маленьких" Гилберта Бирса. Каждая история рассказана очень кратко, иллюстрации не перегружены лишними деталями - как раз то, что нужно малышу. В конце книги есть часть для родителей с соответствующим текстом писания, возможными вопросами и занятиями для каждой истории.

As my son grew older that same friend gave him this wonderful book. A Child's Bible has a little more text and beautiful watercolour illustrations by Honor Ayres. My son enjoyed finding detail in the pictures, we counted sheep and butterflies, named different animals and tried to make their sounds. There are lots of ways to play and discuss the story with your child.

Когда сын подрос, та же подруга подарила ему эту чудесную книжку. В "Библии для самых маленьких" немного больше текста и прекрасные акварельные иллюстрации. Сыну нравилось находить маленькие детали на картинках, мы считали овечек и бабочек, называли разных животных, пытались произвести их звуки. Есть много способов играть и обсуждать истории с малышом.  

This one is called The Bible Stories and has little windows to open as the story unfolds. My younger ones love playing with it. They've issued a second volume a couple years ago.

В "Библейских историях" можно открывать маленькие окошечки по мере того, как разворачивается история. Младшие до сих пор любят играть с этой книжкой. Кстати, пару лет назад появилось продолжение.

The illustration style in this one isn't my favourite, but the younger kids love it still. It has a handle and a lock, and they like to carry the book around the house and look through the stories every now and then.

Стиль иллюстраций в этой Библии не самый любимый мной, но младшим она все равно нравится. У нее есть замочек и ручка, и им нравится носить ее по дому, время от времени усаживаясь и листая страницы.

This series by Penny Frank is for older children, with more extended stories and beautiful watercolours.

Эта серия для детей постарше, в ней истории подлинней и прекрасные акварели.
