Story of Joseph

After such a long blogging break I need to catch up with what's going on in our Sunday school! We began in September by reviewing the books of the Bible, then continued with the stories of Creation, the Flood, the Great family.. Every time in the beginning of a lesson we reminded of the previous stories to help the kids see the bigger picture and rebuild the line of history go God's people. I was telling them that at this same time their parents are listening to the same Bible and also we read the same Bible every day and discover new things in the familiar stories. Looked like it prevented the kids form yelling "We already heard that!"
После большого перерыва надо задокументировать происходящее в воскресной школе! Мы начали в сентябре с обзора книг Библии, продолжили историями о Сотворении, Потопе, Большой семье.. Каждый раз, в начале урока мы старались напоминать о том, что слышали в прошлый раз, чтобы дети могли видеть общую картину, выстроить линию истории Божьего народа. Мы говорили, что в это же время, прямо сейчас, их родители слушают ту же самую Библию на проповеди. А еще мы читаем ту же самую Библию каждый день и открываем в уже знакомых историях что-то новое. Кажется, это предотвратило даже намеки на то, что они это уже слышали и им неинтересно. 

This year beside the core lessons we used new stories from The Complete Guide to Godly Play: Volume 6. These are individual stories of the Bible heroes. After the Great family the kids heard about the life of Joseph. I reminded of the Great family, and Isaac and Rebecca, and how they had children, and their children had children. Again I wanted them to see the bigger picture yet another time.
В этом году мы использовали не только ключевые уроки Godly Play, но и добавили новые из книги The Complete Guide to Godly Play: Volume 6, посвященные отдельным героям Библии. После истории о Большой семье дети услышали о жизни Иосифа. Я напомнила о Большой семье и Исааке с Ревеккой, и как у них были дети, и у их детей родились дети. Хотелось в очередной раз дать им почувствовать бОльшую картину.

Двенадцать сыновей Иакова, разноцветная одежда, двенадцать снопов из сна Иосифа.

Another dream pictured by the card from Creation story, silver coins Joseph was sold for, pyramid (only blue for now, didn't have time to make a decent one :)), a cow and ears of wheat for the Faraoh's dream, a sack of wheat. The original material includes an ear of corn but the Russian Bible uses a word that's not the "corn" corn.
Еще один сон изображает карточка из истории Сотворения, серебренники, за которые продан Иосиф, египетская пирамида (пока только синяя из набора кубиков :)), корова и колосья из сна фараона, мешочек пшеницы. В оригинале материала используется початок кукурузы, но в русской Библии это колосья.

I picked such sacks so that the children could see the grain through the fabric. Some even wanted to taste the wheat, which I gladly let them do - it is so Godly Play!
Я выбрала прозрачные мешочки, чтоб дети могли видеть зерно сквозь ткань. Некоторые даже захотели попробовать пшеницу на вкус, и я с радостью разрешила - это так по-GodlyPlayевски!

I had to make two sets of material for  both of the groups. With all the fabric I purchased in Uzbekistan over the years I can make many more coats of man colours!
Нужно было сделать два комплекта материала для обеих групп. Ткани, купленные в Узбекистане, позволяют сделать хоть сколько разноцветных одежд!
